KATHMANDU: Aloka, the internationally known ‘Peace Dog’ that captured hearts around the world through its journey with Buddhist monks, has arrived in Nepal.
Once a stray dog found wandering the streets of India, Aloka’s life took an unexpected turn after joining a group of Buddhist monks on a walking pilgrimage. The dog later became a regular companion on their peace journeys and was given the name “Aloka.”
Since then, Aloka has traveled across several countries, accompanying monks on long-distance pilgrimages aimed at promoting peace and compassion.
Aloka gained international attention after joining Buddhist monk Thich Minh Tue and his team on their travels. The dog later participated in a 2,300-mile walking journey in the United States, earning widespread recognition as the Peace Dog.
Buddha Air welcomed Aloka and the peace pilgrimage team upon their arrival in the country.
Sharing photos on social media, the airline expressed its happiness at hosting Thich Minh Tue, Aloka and other members of the peace journey on a Bhairahawa–Kathmandu flight.
The arrival of Aloka has generated excitement among followers of the peace pilgrimage, with many viewing the dog as a symbol of loyalty, compassion and harmony.
Having traveled thousands of kilometers across multiple countries, Aloka is now continuing its journey in Nepal, where it has already begun attracting attention as one of the most unusual and beloved participants in the international peace walk.
