Rain, thunderstorms likely in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim



KATHMANDU: Cloudy conditions, rain and wind have been forecast in various parts of the country due to the influence of a western low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, local winds, and a low-pressure trough active near Nepal from west to east.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, most mountainous and hilly regions, including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, are currently generally cloudy, while the Terai region remains partly cloudy.

Moderate rainfall is occurring in some parts of Lumbini Province, while light rain has been reported in parts of Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

The Division said that this afternoon, generally cloudy conditions will persist in the mountainous and hilly regions, including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the Terai region will remain partly cloudy.

Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Thunderstorms are also expected in one or two places in the Terai areas of Madhesh Province and in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the mountainous areas, including Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while hilly areas and the Terai region of Lumbini Province will remain partly cloudy. Other Terai areas are likely to remain mainly clear.

There is also a possibility of light rain or snowfall in some places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, as well as Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and in one or two places in the Terai areas of Lumbini Province and the mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

The Division has urged the public to remain cautious and stay updated, as strong winds may occur in some parts of the Terai region of Lumbini Province.
