Govt announces discussion on subsidy for nationally recognized political parties

KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to provide financial grants to nationally recognized political parties based on their vote share in the last election.

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the budget for fiscal year 2026/27 in the Federal Parliament.

He said the proposal to allocate subsidies to political parties with national recognition would be further discussed, with funding to be considered in proportion to votes received in the previous election.
