Cloudy weather likely in hills, heat wave risk continues in Terai



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure system near the eastern part of the country.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon. Madhesh Province and the mountainous and hilly areas of the remaining provinces will witness partly cloudy conditions, while most Terai regions are likely to remain mainly clear.

The department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki.

One or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may also receive rainfall.

Meanwhile, hot day conditions are likely in the hilly regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces, while heat wave conditions may persist across parts of the Terai.

The department has also warned of possible windstorms in a few areas of the Terai districts of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
