Big design underway to wipe out communists in Nepal: Prachanda



KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has claimed that there is a larger plan underway to weaken and eliminate the communist base in Nepal.

Speaking at the 26th Nirmal Lama Memorial Program organized at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on Sunday, Prachanda said domestic and foreign reactionary forces were working under a “grand design” to destroy the communist movement in Nepal.

He said the behind-the-scenes strategies aimed at sidelining communists during the last elections would gradually come to light.

Stating that the country has reached a difficult national situation, Prachanda stressed that the need for unity among “genuine communists” has become even more important now.

He claimed that communists still hold strong public support in Nepal and that people continue to believe communist forces are the most committed in defending national sovereignty.

Prachanda also warned that it would be unfortunate if communists and patriotic forces failed to unite under a new campaign focused on broader national unity.

He further said the threat of attacks on the republic and other democratic achievements has been increasing day by day.

According to him, the government’s actions against the working class have made communist unity and unity among patriotic forces a necessary precondition at the current time.
