Moderate to heavy rainfall possible in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure system in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of the country.

Due to this influence, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions and partly cloudy in the Terai.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain with thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in the remaining Terai region.

Similarly, tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous regions, including Koshi Province, and partly cloudy in the rest of the country.

The Division said there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi Province, as well as light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in Madhes Province and the hilly and mountainous areas of the remaining provinces.
