KATHMANDU: Authorities have begun demolishing structures built on encroached public land in the Swayambhu area of Kathmandu as part of an ongoing campaign to remove illegal settlements.
The operation started on Saturday morning under the government’s broader initiative to clear squatter settlements in the federal capital. Bulldozers were deployed to dismantle houses and other structures constructed on government land.
The drive follows similar demolition activities carried out on Friday in areas including Balkhu, Balaju, Shankhamul and Banshighat.
Officials said the campaign will continue in the coming days, with a focus on protecting public land and removing illegal encroachments across the Kathmandu Valley.
