Jacaranda blooms paint Kathmandu Valley in purple

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley is currently awash in shades of purple as jacaranda trees burst into bloom across the city, enhancing its natural charm.

Tall jacaranda trees lining major roads are now in full blossom, adding a striking beauty to the urban landscape. Their vibrant purple hues have made the spring season even more colorful and delightful.

Areas such as Durbar Marg, Ratna Park, Sundhara, Singha Durbar, Satdobato, and Gaushala have been especially transformed by the blooming jacarandas, offering picturesque views throughout the valley.

Jacaranda is not native to Nepal. Originally from Central and South America, the tree is believed to have been introduced to Nepal via India. It is thought that Nepali workers—particularly Lahures returning from service abroad—played a role in bringing this beautiful species to the country.
