NC picks Angdembe as parliamentary party leader after prolonged delay

KATHMANDU: After weeks of internal deliberations, the Nepali Congress has decided to appoint Bhishmaraj Angdembe as its parliamentary party leader.

A meeting of the parliamentary party held on Monday unanimously endorsed Angdembe for the post, nearly two months after the completion of the elections.

Angdembe is a lawmaker elected under the proportional representation system.

The party has also decided to appoint Basana Thapa as the chief whip. Thapa was elected from Dailekh-1 constituency.

Similarly, Nishkal Rai has been selected as the party’s whip. Rai represents Ilam-1.

Party leaders said the appointments are aimed at streamlining parliamentary coordination and strengthening internal leadership structure following the delay in forming the parliamentary party leadership.
