MUSTANG: A 63-year-old Indian tourist has died of altitude sickness in Jomsom, Mustang, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Bhanu Matthi from Tamil Nadu, India, who had arrived in Mustang with a 24-member group for a pilgrimage to Muktinath.
According to the District Police Office Mustang, Matthi suddenly developed breathing difficulties while getting out of a vehicle near a hotel in Jomsom.
Information Officer Ishwor Mahat said the tourist was immediately rushed to the Provincial Hospital Jomsom, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police said that since Bhadra of the current fiscal year, a total of eight people, including five foreign tourists, have died due to altitude sickness in Mustang. Among them are four Indian nationals, one from Mexico, and three Nepali citizens, according to police data.
