UML leader Bishnu Rimal calls discussion on left unity ‘irrelevant’



KATHMANDU: Bishnu Rimal, a leader of UML, has said that discussions about leftist unity are irrelevant at the current time.

Writing on social media on Saturday, Rimal said that debates about left unity are being raised from behind the scenes in a way that diverts attention from present political realities.

He also questioned who is promoting such discussions and why they are being brought forward at this time.

According to Rimal, the party’s immediate priority should be conducting a serious review of its results in the House of Representatives election in Nepal and focusing on organisational restructuring.

He stressed that the party must thoroughly assess what he described as a worrying electoral defeat and move ahead with internal reforms and reorganisation.

“The serious review of the concerning defeat in the elections and the restructuring of the party are the current priorities for CPN-UML,” Rimal wrote, adding that attempts to shift attention toward discussions of left unity at this stage are misplaced.
