Siraha records 19 fire incidents in a month

SIRAHA: Fire incidents have surged in Siraha with the onset of the dry summer season, with 19 separate cases reported in the past month, according to the District Police Office.

Police said the fires, including three caused by electrical short circuits, occurred across different parts of the district during the month. The incidents resulted in an estimated financial loss of Rs 3.327 million. A total of 182 security personnel were mobilized for firefighting and rescue operations.

In addition to fire-related damage, the district also reported casualties from other incidents. One person died due to drowning and another from electrocution, while one individual was injured in a wild animal attack. A storm also caused property damage in one location, police said.

Authorities have also stepped up action against environmental risks and illegal extraction of natural resources. During the same period, police seized five vehicles involved in the незакон extraction of riverbed and forest materials and collected Rs 100,000 in fines, which has been deposited at the revenue office.

Police said they have been coordinating closely with local fire services and communities to respond to emergencies. With the dry season ongoing, authorities have urged the public to remain cautious while handling fire, warning that the risk of further incidents remains high.
