Mixed weather expected across Nepal today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is experiencing a mix of clear skies and cloud cover today, with chances of light rain and snowfall in several hilly and mountainous regions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

At present, the partial influence of westerly and local winds has brought generally cloudy conditions to the hilly and mountainous areas, while the Terai region is seeing mostly clear weather.

The Weather Forecasting Division has indicated the possibility of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

This afternoon, the hilly areas of Koshi Province and the mountainous regions across the country are expected to remain generally cloudy. Other hilly areas will see partly cloudy conditions, while the Terai will continue to enjoy mainly clear weather.

There is a likelihood of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi’s hilly and mountainous regions, and at isolated locations in Gandaki and other mountainous areas.

By tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Elsewhere, including the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, conditions will be partly cloudy, while the Terai will remain mostly clear.

The division has also forecast a chance of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
