Nationwide Economic Survey set to start today



KATHMANDU: The second National Economic Survey is set to begin across the country from today. According to the National Statistics Office, enumerators and supervisors have already been deployed to their respective areas.

As per the schedule, on-site data collection will be completed by the third week of June. Around 5,000 personnel have been mobilized for the census.

The Ministry of Finance has urged all stakeholders to cooperate, as the census will gather comprehensive data on the country’s industrial and economic sectors. It will cover 18 sectors, including industry, trade, services, cooperatives, private sector enterprises and public institutions, collecting information on number, type, investment, employment, production and service flow.

The census will include both registered and unregistered businesses, ranging from large industries to small enterprises and self-employed activities. It will also cover factories, commercial establishments, NGOs, government institutions, schools and hospitals across the country.

The first National Economic Census, conducted in 2075 BS, recorded a total of 923,356 business establishments nationwide.
