Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulates Prime Minister Balendra Shah

KATHMANDU: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended his congratulations to Nepal’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Balendra Shah. In a message sent on Monday, President Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to expand comprehensive cooperation between the two nations following Shah’s appointment on March 27.

In his message, President Pezeshkian highlighted the significance of the six-decade-long diplomatic ties between Iran and Nepal, noting that the relationship has always been rooted in mutual respect and shared interests.

He said that Iran is fully prepared to strengthen bilateral ties across various sectors, including economy, trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, and education.

The Iranian President wished Prime Minister Shah a successful tenure and expressed hope for the progress and prosperity of the Nepali people. He remarked that Shah’s valuable experience in both executive and political spheres would play a vital role in opening new horizons for cooperation.

The congratulatory note, published by Iran’s state news agency IRNA, comes at a time when world leaders are reaching out to the new government in Kathmandu.

The message also holds strategic significance as Iran currently navigates a fragile ceasefire amid ongoing tensions involving the United States and Israel. Observers suggest that this outreach could provide a fresh impetus to Nepal-Iran relations in a changing global landscape.
