UML youths distribute flowers to leaders ahead of Secretariat meeting

KATHMANDU: Youth leaders of the CPN-UML distributed bouquets of flowers to party leaders arriving for the secretariat meeting at the party headquarters in Chyasal on Friday.

The youths said they handed the flowers to leaders attending the meeting as a symbolic gesture while continuing their protest.

Earlier, the protesting youths had also burned an effigy of the party’s General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel. They said the protest was meant to exert pressure on the leadership and warned that the party could face further decline if it continues to function in the same manner.

The protest comes amid growing dissatisfaction among a section of youth leaders following the party’s recent political setbacks, including the impact of the Gen-Z Movement and the results of the March 5 elections.

Party leaders were arriving in Chyasal on Friday to attend the secretariat meeting amid the ongoing demonstrations by party youths.
