RSP begins discussions with other parties to ensure effective parliament

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti has said the party has begun discussions with other political parties to ensure the parliament functions effectively and with dignity.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar on Friday, Burlakoti said the House must gain the confidence of other parties to operate in a dignified and effective manner, adding that the party has initiated consultations with all parties toward that goal.

He also said that since all political parties have placed priority on amending the constitution, a proposal committee has been formed to hold discussions on the matter. According to him, talks with other parties will move forward once the agenda and issues for constitutional amendment are formally proposed.

Burlakoti added that the process of selecting the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal is currently underway, and discussions on the election of the Deputy Speaker will begin after the Speaker is elected.
