HONG KONG: Policeman in Hong Kong shot a protester during a violent demonstration.
Footage posted on social media showed an officer pulling out his gun before coping with a man at a roadblock, international media reports have said.
Another person wearing a face mask came near the officer he fired at him, hitting the protester in the chest.
The officer then fired another two rounds. There have been several other clashes on Monday as well when police fired rubber bullets and tear gas in several parts of Hong Kong.
Footage also showed a protester lying with his eyes open and with blood around him. Hospital authorities said he was undergoing surgery and was in critical condition.
This was the third time that police shot a person with live rounds since the Hong Kong demonstrations began in June.
The first incident of shooting was witnessed on October 1 when China was celebrating its 70 years of communist rule.
Likewise, a teenage boy was shot in the leg on 4 October. (Agencies)
