Harka Sampang to boycott PM Shah’s meeting, demands Parliament session

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Shram Sanskriti Party and lawmaker Harka Sampang has announced a boycott of a meeting called by Prime Minister Balen Shah.

Sampang said he and his party’s lawmakers will not attend the meeting scheduled at Singha Durbar on Monday. The Prime Minister had invited lawmakers from Koshi Province for discussions, including members from the Shram Sanskriti Party.

Rejecting the invitation, Sampang stated that his party would not participate in any informal, closed-door meetings and instead demanded that a formal session of the House of Representatives be convened.

He stressed that parliamentary proceedings must take precedence over such meetings, adding that issues should be raised and discussed within the parliament.

“The Prime Minister must call the first meeting of Parliament. We will not attend room-based meetings held without convening the House,” Sampang said.

He further argued that Parliament should meet at least once a week, insisting that the government must remain accountable and respond to public concerns.
