Houthis launch second missile attack on Israel, vow continued strikes

YEMEN: Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group has carried out a second missile attack targeting Israel, warning that further strikes are likely in the coming days.

The assault marks a renewed escalation, following earlier hostilities linked to the ongoing regional conflict, according to BBC. The internationally recognized government of Yemen has strongly condemned the attacks, accusing Iran of repeatedly attempting to draw Yemen deeper into the wider Middle East crisis.

Analysts warn that if the Houthis expand their operations to target vessels passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, it could deal a significant blow to global trade and economic stability, given the strategic importance of the route.

In a separate development, three journalists were killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to their employers. The Israeli military alleged that one of the victims, affiliated with Hezbollah’s Al Manar TV channel, was also linked to the Iran-backed militant group.

The Committee to Protect Journalists condemned the incident, emphasizing that journalists must not be targeted regardless of their affiliations.

Meanwhile, Iran reported that the US and Israel carried out a strike on the Martyr Absalan Clinic in Minab, an area previously hit during a deadly attack on a girls’ school at the start of the conflict. Iranian officials stated that the latest strike caused damage to storage facilities, though no casualties were reported.
