Over 6,000 disaster incidents reported in 11 months



KATHMANDU: A total of 6,799 disaster-related incidents were reported across the country in the past 11 months.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 464 people lost their lives, 38 went missing, and 1,814 were injured in disaster-induced incidents during the period.

Data provided by the authority show that 12,458 households were affected by various disasters. Fire incidents accounted for the highest number of cases, with 3,339 incidents resulting in 98 deaths.

During the same period, authorities recorded 318 flood incidents, 590 landslides, 429 cases of heavy rainfall, 367 lightning strikes, 592 snakebite cases, and 246 wildfire incidents.

Similarly, there were 292 windstorms, 488 wild animal attacks, and 119 incidents of soil erosion. The authority also reported five avalanche incidents, seven earthquakes, and two cases of boat capsizing during the period.
