Israeli envoy Shmulik Arie Bass lauds Nepal for democratic election process

KATHMANDU: Israel has congratulated Nepal for successfully conducting the House of Representatives elections, calling it a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s democratic process.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday under the theme “The Dawn of a New Middle East,” the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, said Israel is eager to continue working closely with Nepal to further enhance bilateral friendship and cooperation.

During the briefing, Ambassador Bass stated that Israel seeks lasting peace in the Middle East and remains willing to engage in dialogue with all neighboring countries to promote stability and development across the region.

He also alleged that Israel has repeatedly been targeted by extremist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas, accusing Iran of supporting and financing these organisations, which Israel views as a major security threat.

The ambassador stressed that Israel does not intend to harm Iranian civilians. Instead, he said the country’s objective is to free the Iranian people from the rule of leaders like Ali Khamenei, whom he described as a danger to both regional and global security.

He further noted that recent joint air strikes carried out by the United States and Israel were aimed at addressing what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat, not only to the Middle East but also to the wider international community. He added that Israel remains committed to protecting its security while pursuing a peaceful future.
