RSP crosses 5 million votes in PR tally; counting continues



KATHMANDU: The vote count under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system has reached 10,424,527 so far, according to the latest data provided by the Election Commission.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has crossed the five million vote mark, securing the highest number of votes at 5,003,168.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has received 1,693,091 votes, while the CPN-UML has secured 1,411,863 votes.

Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has garnered 767,621 votes. The Shram Sanskriti Party has obtained 358,317 votes, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has secured 324,909 votes.

Among other parties, the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal has received 171,697 votes, the Rastriya Parivartan Party 166,447 votes, and the Janamat Party 76,542 votes.

Vote counting under the PR system is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, the RSP has won 125 seats. The Nepali Congress has secured 18 seats, CPN-UML nine, and the Nepal Communist Party seven seats.

The Shram Sanskriti Party has won three seats, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and an independent candidate have each secured one seat.

Results from 164 constituencies have been announced so far, while the result of Dhanusha-1 constituency has not been made public due to a dispute.
