Israel launches fresh strikes on Iran

TEL AVIV: Israel has carried out a new wave of airstrikes on targets in Iran, intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.

The Israeli military said it targeted infrastructure in Tehran and earlier struck what it described as Iran’s “leadership compound.” Videos show damage in several locations following the attacks, according to BBC.

At the White House, US President Donald Trump told reporters that “everything’s been knocked out in Iran,” referring to the impact of the joint military operations. He also criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over Britain’s initial response to the US-Israeli strikes, remarking, “this is not Winston Churchill we’re dealing with.”

The United States has said it has hit more than 1,700 targets in Iran since launching military operations on Saturday. Washington also confirmed the first American soldiers killed since the conflict began. Iran has responded with retaliatory attacks across the region.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the death toll in Iran has reached 787. Residents in Tehran said they are increasingly concerned about shortages of essential goods, including groceries, BBC reported.

Meanwhile, the UK announced it will deploy helicopters equipped with counter-drone capabilities and the air defence destroyer HMS Dragon to Cyprus following attacks on a British base there. France has also said it plans to send a frigate and additional air defence systems to the island amid rising regional tensions.
