BAGLUNG: A total of 2,302 girls in Baglung district have been vaccinated against cervical cancer under the ongoing HPV immunization campaign.
The vaccination drive, launched last year, targets girls studying in grades 6 to 10 as well as out-of-school girls within the eligible age group. According to Dev Prakash Ghimire, Information Officer at the Provincial Public Health Office, the district aims to vaccinate 2,313 girls this year.
So far, 556 girls in Baglung Municipality, 268 in Galkot Municipality, 158 in Jaimini Municipality, and 419 in Dhorpatan Municipality have received the HPV vaccine.
Similarly, 135 girls in Kathekhola Rural Municipality, 101 in Tamankhola, 55 in Tarakhola, 235 in Nisikhola, 309 in Badigad, and 73 in Bareng Rural Municipality have been vaccinated.
Ghimire said that among those vaccinated this year, 2,271 are school-going girls, 14 are out-of-school girls, and 17 had previously missed their doses.
Last year, a total of 11,177 girls were immunized against HPV in the district. Health workers have been mobilized to visit schools and households throughout Falgun to ensure that all eligible girls receive the vaccine and no one is left out of the campaign.
