Election Commission takes action against 8, seeks clarification from 94 for code violations



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission Nepal has taken action against eight individuals for violating the election code of conduct and sought clarifications from 94 others.

Mohanraj Joshi, Legal Officer at the Commission, stated that responses have been received for 57 clarification notices, while six individuals were asked to provide further explanations.

The Commission has issued notices to political parties, candidates, government and non-government organizations, media outlets, and journalists alleged to have violated the code of conduct. Registered media outlets and affiliated journalists have been asked to respond through the Press Council Nepal.

So far, the Commission has received 1,076 complaints from across the country, of which 1,061 have been dismissed. The majority of complaints came from the Lumbini Province.
