Kathmandu ranks fifth among world’s most polluted cities on Friday



KATHMANDU: The capital city, Kathmandu, ranked fifth among the world’s most polluted cities on Friday.

According to the Switzerland-based international air quality monitoring organization IQAir, Kathmandu recorded one of the highest levels of air pollution among major cities worldwide.

Data from the organization showed that the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 158 on Friday.

An AQI level of 158 falls under the “unhealthy” category, posing risks to public health.

Among the most polluted cities, Hanoi topped the list with an AQI of 164, followed by Lahore at 162. India’s Kolkata and Delhi ranked third and fourth respectively, each recording an AQI of 160.
