Kathmandu’s initial minimum temperature rises

KATHMANDU: The initial minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has increased today.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature recorded in Kathmandu at 5:45 am today was 9.5 degrees Celsius.

At the same time on Thursday, the temperature was 8.5 degrees Celsius, and it remained unchanged at 8.5 degrees Celsius during the 8:45 am measurement.

The official minimum temperature is recorded at 8:45 am. By that time, the temperature may decrease slightly from the early morning reading, although it sometimes remains the same.

Meteorologists explain that when the sky remains cloudy overnight, the minimum temperature tends to be higher in the morning. Conversely, clear skies during the night usually result in lower morning temperatures.

In contrast, maximum temperatures tend to decrease if the weather remains cloudy throughout the day and increase when the sky is clear and sunny.

Despite daily fluctuations, meteorologists say overall temperatures are gradually rising as the winter season comes to an end.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature reflects conditions from night to early morning and is measured at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature indicates daytime conditions and is recorded at 5:45 pm.
