Woman found dead in Gaindakot

NAWALPARASI: A young woman has been found dead in Shantinagar, Gaindakot Municipality-2, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapur).

According to Yubaraj Khadka, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapur), 24-year-old Babita Sapkota, a resident of Gulmi Musikot Rural Municipality-9 who was living in Gaindakot-2, was discovered dead in her room with visible injuries.

The police were alerted after her brother informed the house owner that he had been unable to contact her. When the lock on the room, secured from the outside, was opened in the presence of local representatives, the house owner, and relatives, Sapkota was found lying on her bed, covered with a sheet, Superintendent Khadka said.

“Initial investigation shows injuries to the head, neck, and right wrist caused by a sharp weapon, along with bruises on her face,” he said. A provincial-level investigation team and a special unit with sniffer dogs have been deployed for further investigation.

Sapkota had been married three years ago and divorced a year ago, and was currently living alone. She reportedly had no contact with her family after returning to Gaindakot from Gulmi recently. Police said further details will be released after completing the investigation.
