One firm fined, another summoned over irregularities



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined one firm and summoned another as part of its ongoing market monitoring campaign.

The Department imposed a cash fine of Rs 5,000 on Sunil Canteen, located in Ward No. 11 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City near the Trauma Center, after irregularities were found during an on-site inspection.

Similarly, Healthy Byte Services Pvt. Ltd., based in Chabahil, has been directed to appear before the Department within three days along with relevant business documents. In addition, corrective instructions have been issued to 11 other firms.

The Department stated that it has been carrying out regular market inspections in the presence of local representatives, consumer rights activists and other stakeholders, and is taking action in accordance with prevailing laws.
