Eleven kilometers of Nagdhunga-Malekhu road blacktopped

CHITWAN: The 11-kilometer Nagdhunga-Malekhu section of the Prithvi Highway has been blacktopped, with eight kilometers completed last year and an additional three kilometers finished this year.

According to Bijay Darai, Project Engineer of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project, 40 percent of the third phase, including Kurintar, Fisling, Charaudi, and parts of Bishaltar, has been blacktopped so far.

Blacktopping work is ongoing in Bandre in Dhading, while bases and subbases have been laid in the Fisling and Jawang Khola areas. Of the six bridges in this section, construction is underway at Hugdi and Charaudi. Darai said the project is committed to ensuring there is no shortage of construction materials.

Although materials have been brought from Charaudi, Benighat, and Ichchakamana in Dhading, he expressed concern that supply shortages could persist for some time. The 38-kilometer road section is being upgraded with a World Bank loan of Rs 4.8059 billion.
