Light rain and snowfall expected in high hilly and mountainous areas



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that westerly winds are currently affecting the country. Fog has been observed in several parts of the Terai and valleys, while mountainous and high hilly areas are partially cloudy.

According to the forecast, fog is likely in some Terai areas until noon. The high hilly and mountainous regions will generally be cloudy, while the remaining hilly areas are expected to be partly cloudy. The Terai will experience mainly clear weather. Light rain and snowfall are possible in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Tonight, fog may again form in some Terai areas. The high hilly and mountainous parts of Koshi and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see mainly clear skies. Light rain and snowfall may occur in one or two high hilly and mountainous areas of these provinces.

The Department also noted that fog will persist in some Terai areas until noon and that air pollution is likely to continue in the Terai and valleys due to the lack of rain. It has advised the public and relevant authorities to take precautions in adverse weather conditions.
