HoR polls: 27 candidates in the fray in Sunsari-1



SUNSARI: A total of 27 candidates are contesting in the House of Representatives (HoR) election in Sunsari constituency No. 1. Of them, 19 are representing various political parties, while eight are independent candidates.

The main contest is expected among candidates from major parties including the CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, Nepali Communist Party, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, alongside several independent contenders.

Candidates aged between 31 and 68 are in the race. Rajkumar Limbu, 31, of the Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastroya Manch, is the youngest candidate, while Bhupi Rai, 68, of the Rastriya Sajha Party, is the eldest.

Former mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and Chairperson of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Harkaraj Sampang, is also contesting the election. Other prominent candidates include Surya Bhattarai of the NCP, Sujendra Tamang of the Nepali Congress, and Tikaram Limbu of the CPN-UML.

Other party candidates include Sarin Tamang (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Mahesh Shrestha (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Rajendra Gurung (Mongol National Organization), Rajkumar Rai (Nepali Janashramdan Sanskriti Party), Naresh BK (Samyukta Nagarik Party), Dambar Lawati (Ujjaya Nepal Party), Shyam Narayan Rajdhami (CPN Samyukta Party), Yam Bahadur Limbu (Nepal Janmukti Party), Raya Bahadur Bista (Aam Janata Party), Sanjay Rai and Nagendra Bahadur Limbu (Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal), and Raksha Kumar Rai (Miteri Party Nepal).

The independent candidates include Deuman Limbu, Sanjay Kumar Rai, Om Krishna Udas, Shesh Prasad Regmi, Subash Bishwakarma, Ajay Bishwakarma, Chet Bahadur Rai, and Jiwan Kala Rai.

According to the District Election Office, 41 polling centres and 161 polling stations have been set up in the constituency. A total of 150,393 voters are registered in Sunsari-1.
