NEPSE Index drops by double digits



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by double digits on Sunday, shedding 10.25 points to settle at 2,698.44.

According to NEPSE, a total of 26,236,204 shares of 330 companies were traded through 111,978 transactions during the session, generating a total turnover of Rs 11.65 billion.

Among the sectoral indices, the investment group gained 0.08 percent, while the others group rose by 0.46 percent. All other sub-indices ended the day in negative territory.

The banking sub-index declined by 0.14 percent, development banks by 0.92 percent, finance by 0.01 percent, hotels and tourism by 2.13 percent, hydropower by 0.31 percent, life insurance by 0.71 percent, and manufacturing and processing by 1.15 percent.

Similarly, microfinance dropped by 0.21 percent, mutual funds by 0.61 percent, non-life insurance by 0.32 percent, and trading by 1.30 percent.

Shares of Super Mai Hydropower Limited hit the positive circuit during the trading session. In contrast, Kalinchowk Darshan Limited emerged as the biggest loser, with its share price falling by 8.91 percent.

In terms of turnover, Super Mardi Hydropower Limited recorded the highest transaction value, with shares worth Rs 560.3 million traded. Meanwhile, based on the number of shares traded, Ridi Power Company Limited led the market with 1,658,725 shares changing hands.
