Minimum temperature in Kathmandu climbs to 9.4°C as winter eases



KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has risen for the second consecutive day.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Sunday).

At the same time yesterday (Saturday), the Valley’s minimum temperature was 7.4 degrees Celsius, which later declined slightly to 6.9 degrees Celsius at 8:45 am. Today’s official minimum temperature will also be recorded at 8:45 am, and it is likely to decrease slightly from the early morning reading.

Last Friday, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 5.6 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists say temperatures are gradually rising across the country, including in Kathmandu, as winter nears its end.

The lowest temperature recorded in a day is known as the minimum temperature, while the highest is the maximum temperature. The Division measures minimum temperatures at 8:45 am and maximum temperatures at 5:45 pm at various stations across the country, including Kathmandu.
