KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to depute volunteers in all wards across the country to conduct voter education programmes ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
According to the EC, voter education volunteers will be mobilised in all 6,743 voting stations through the District Election Offices. The initiative aims to inform voters about the election process, voting procedures and related responsibilities.
Assistant Spokesperson of the EC, Kul Bahadur GC, said that experienced child development facilitators, women health volunteers and community service centre operators will be appointed as voter education volunteers. He added that the process of appointing volunteers has already begun.
“The Commission has approved the voter education programme, and preparations are underway to orient the volunteers,” GC said.
The EC approved the voter education-related programme on February 2. As part of the preparation, orientation programmes for the appointed volunteers will be conducted on February 15 across all seven provinces.
According to the Commission, the volunteers will be deployed in all 6,743 wards of 753 local levels starting from mid-February. The voter education drive is expected to enhance public awareness and ensure informed participation in the upcoming parliamentary election.
