RPP spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi urges unity among Jumla candidates

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Spokesperson and House of Representatives candidate from Jumla, Gyanendra Shahi, has called on all candidates in the district to move forward in unity and contest the election in a cordial manner.

Issuing a video message via Facebook, Shahi said his candidacy was not directed against any individual or political party. He urged rival candidates to engage in healthy and respectful competition, stressing unity over confrontation.

Shahi stated that instead of clashing with one another, candidates should come together to seek the blessings of the people of Jumla. “My candidacy is not against any party or person,” he said. “It is against the practice of the center treating Jumla’s elected representatives like servants.”

Calling for a democratic and respectful election environment, Shahi added that all candidates should be able to sit together and share tea while appealing to voters. “It is our duty to collectively seek the mandate of the people of Jumla and practice democracy in its true spirit,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shahi has also come under criticism from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate from Jumla, Binita Kathayat. Earlier, Kathayat objected to what she described as Shahi’s attempt to seek votes by misleading voters.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Kathayat accused Shahi of trying to win the election by invoking the influence Balen Shah and RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane, rather than presenting his own agenda to the electorate.
