Pokhara’s Lakeside area to be made more tourism-friendly

POKHARA: Stakeholders and the local community have begun joint initiatives to ensure a safer and more tourism-friendly environment in Pokhara’s Lakeside area.

The Pokhara Tourism Council has partnered with multiple agencies and local representatives to enhance safety, security and overall visitor experience in the city’s main tourist hub.

Council Chairperson Taranath Pahari said the campaign is being implemented in coordination with the Ward Police Office, Tourism Police, Metropolitan Police, ward officials and tourism-related organizations.

He said the joint team has agreed to curb any unwanted or disruptive activities in the Lakeside area. Regular on-site monitoring, particularly during evening hours, will be carried out to ensure tourist safety and maintain order.

The initiative also focuses on improving hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation, while controlling street vending and other activities that may obstruct tourist movement or cause inconvenience to visitors.

According to the council, the campaign aims to make Lakeside a safe, clean and welcoming destination for both domestic and international tourists.
