DHANUSHA: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has said that the party entered the elections with a renewed vision and called on voters to give the Nepali Congress a mandate to lead the government for the next five years.
Addressing a program in Dhanusha Constituency No. 4 on Friday, Thapa said the Nepali Congress has come forward with determination and a clear sense of purpose. “We have dreams in our eyes and a strong desire to deliver. The Congress will take responsibility for uniting the country,” he said.
He stressed the need to bring back leaders and activists who had drifted away from the party in the past. “All friends who were once outside the party should now be welcomed back home,” Thapa said.
Thapa said he had left a strong constituency to campaign in Madhesh, which he described as the heart and center of Nepal. “Madhesh is the mother of the Nepali Congress,” he said, adding that the party would move forward by correcting past mistakes.
Emphasizing Madhesh as a priority, Thapa said the Congress wants to carry Madhesh forward for the next five years. “When national decisions are shaped at the highest level, we want a situation where the Prime Minister is remembered as one who stood for Madhesh,” he said, urging voters to give the Congress a five-year governing mandate.
He described the Congress as a party that brings together all languages, castes, and religions, and called for the victory of all Congress candidates from Madhesh. “The Congress should win all four constituencies in Dhanusha,” he said.
Stressing the importance of clear and bold leadership on Madhesh-related issues, Thapa urged party leaders and workers to raise both national and local concerns during the campaign.
“If someone says they want to vote for a new party, tell them to vote for the new Congress,” he said.
Saying that the party has transformed, Thapa said the Congress is no longer just a source of enthusiasm but a force capable of governing the country. “The Congress is not a force of destruction; it is a party of reconciliation and reform. The Congress will take responsibility for managing both the state and the system,” he said.
