State assembly committee monitors cooperatives

SURKHET: The Social Development Committee under the Karnali State has carried out on the spot monitoring of the cooperative organizations receiving grants from the state government.

A team headed by state assembly committee Chairperson Raju Nepali monitored the cooperative organizations and individual firms of Surkhet that received grants from the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives in the last fiscal year.

The committee monitored KP Commercial Service Pvt Ltd at Birendranagar-11, Hatemalo Agriculture and Cooperative Organization at Barahataal rural municipality-8, Jhulkepani, and Hamro Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative Organization Limited at Panchapuri municipality-6, Bhawar.

The ministry had provided a grant of Rs 4 million to Hatemalo Cooperative for the manufacturing of organic fertilizer and organic pesticides for the fiscal year 2075/76 BS.

The cooperative was found not developing any structures for the manufacturing of fertilizers.

Likewise, Hamro Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative based in Panchapuri municipality-6, Bhawar had received a grant of Rs 6.69 million for the setup of a high-tech nursery.

It was found that only three tunnels were constructed.

Likewise, KP Commercial Service Pvt Ltd also received grant Rs 2 million for cow-rearing.
