National Assembly members object to attempts to mislead public ahead of elections

KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly have raised concerns over attempts to mislead the public by unfairly blaming political parties ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives election.

Speaking at Tuesday’s National Assembly meeting at Singha Durbar, lawmakers stressed that elections must be conducted in a fair, peaceful, and transparent environment. National Assembly member Kiran Babu Shrestha highlighted that some actors are trying to confuse voters by shifting blame to political parties, and he urged the government to prevent such misinformation.

Other members also called for strengthened security arrangements and a safe environment for voters to cast their ballots without fear. Lawmakers emphasized that candidates who promote integrity and oppose corruption, irregularities, and foreign interference should be given due recognition.
