HoR polls: Joint Election Operation Center begins work

KATHMANDU: With 38 days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, the Election Commission (EC) has brought the Joint Election Operation Center into operation to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls and address election-related issues promptly.

The Center, established on the premises of the Election Commission, will function as a one-stop mechanism for the immediate resolution of election-related problems across the country. It was inaugurated on Sunday by Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari.

Bhandari said the center would respond swiftly to any problems arising in constituencies nationwide. “Issues that cannot be resolved at polling stations will be handled directly through the Joint Election Operation Center,” he said.

The Center will be led by the Secretary of the Election Commission and will include representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department.

According to the Commission, the center will collect and analyze information in real time and make necessary decisions to ensure a free, fair, and credible election process.
