KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded a departmental action against DSP Hem Bahadur Shahi at Area Police Office, Kohalpur.

NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma took to Twitter making the demand.

“Nepal Police should take a departmental action on the main culprit of the Kohalpur incident as the audio record has been made public,” Sharma wrote in a tweet, “We are ready to assist in a fair investigation.”

The arrest of six leaders of Nepal Tarun Dal including Nepalgunj town President Sandip Jung Shah with a pistol took a new turn after audio circulated in social media questioning if the police were involved in the incident and are trying to falsely accuse them in the crime.

Alleged audio and video claiming that DSP Hem Bahadur Shahi was involved in the incident have been doing the rounds in the social media.

DSP Shahi was transferred to Kohalpur only a few months ago. Keshar Khadka, treasurer of Banke Chapter of Tarun Dal and a local contractor, his business partner Shah and DSP Shahi had a cordial relationship in the beginning.

Through the audio and video that have been made public, it can be ascertained that the relation turned sour for not getting a goat for the Dashain festival.

It can be heard in the audio that DSP Shahi had asked for a goat for Dashain. Treasurer Khadka can also be heard of assuring to provide the goat. It can be said that the relation turned sour after Khadka failed to keep his promise.
