Meeting hall completed 10 months before deadline

BENI: The majority of the development projects related to physical infrastructures suffer the problem of delay in completion, while many are just left stranded.

Unlike the usual trend, the construction of a building with a meeting hall has been completed ten months before its deadline.

The meeting hall building of the District Coordination Committee, Myagdi was targeted to be completed in 18 months but it was completed in just 8 months. The building was constructed by the Thani-Jayalaxmi JV under a contract awarded by the Urban Development and Building Office of the Gandaki State government, according to the office engineer Tejindra Poudel.

It had won the contract on Chaitra 13, 2075 to construct the building at the cost of 16.7 million. The construction of the building showed that dilly-dallying in project completion can be removed with the will power of the contractors, favorable working atmosphere and continuous monitoring and facilitation by the concerned agencies, said Poudel. The building will soon be handed over to the local government.

The sufficient number of workers, mobilization of machinery, efficient and timely management of construction materials and support from the concerned government agency helped us complete the building well before the deadline, said contractor Jayandra Shrestha.

The two-story building has eight rooms and a meeting hall on the top floor with a capacity for 700 persons. “The completion of this building addresses the problem of a proper place to organize meetings, conventions, conference and cultural programs in the district,” said the DCC Chair Devendra KC.
