WB ‘committed’ to assisting Nepal to achieve high economic growth

KATHMANDU: The World Bank has expressed the commitment to assist Nepal in achieving a high economic growth rate to help attain its goal of economic stability.

A team of 21 executive directors of WB groups, which represents more than half of the world countries, met with Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada and reiterated that they would extend the utmost support to Nepal’s socio-economic development.

According to Finance Minister Dr. Khatiwada, the delegation expressed interest and concern over people’s expectation, service delivery and capacity building. The team, as he argued, lauded the ministry leadership.

It was shared at the meeting that Nepal was put in priority in view of the impact of WB’s assistance, its past checkered with conflict and transitional politics, and the current need for the implementation of federalism.
