Curfew imposed as tension flares in Kapilvastu, one killed

KATHMANDU:  A person has died after police fired shots to take the situation under control that erupted between two religious communities in Kapilvastu district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Suraj Kumar Pandey, a local from Hindu community.

Meanwhile, the local administration has clamped curfew at Krishnanagar in Kapilvastu district after tension flared between two religious communities – Hindu and Muslim.

The situation turned tense between after Hindu people were consigning the idol after worshipping Laxmi Puja.

The situation took a nasty turn after some youths from Muslim Community protested when Hindu people were about to consign the idol of goddess Laxmi at Jhandinagar of Krishnanagar this morning, said District Police Office, Kapilvastu.
