Anarchy will not last long, those involved in criminal acts will face action: KP Oli

DAMAK: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that anarchy will not last long and that those involved in criminal activities will be brought under legal action.

Oli made the remarks on Thursday while visiting the house of Nepali Communist Party (former Maoist Centre) leader Gagan Puri in Damak Municipality-8, Jhapa. The house was set on fire during the Gen-Z movement on September 9.

While inspecting the fire-damaged house, Oli expressed confidence that those responsible for acts of vandalism and arson carried out in the name of the Gen-Z movement would eventually face legal consequences. He sought to reassure Puri, who has been residing in the house after carrying out basic repairs.

“Anarchy cannot last forever. One day, those involved will definitely be brought within the ambit of the law. I urge you to move ahead with legal procedures, including filing complaints,” Oli said.

Puri said he has already collected all evidence related to the incident and has initiated the legal process. He added that during the arson and vandalism, all his belongings were looted, household items were burnt, and the house was severely damaged.

Former Prime Minister Oli was welcomed with flowers upon his arrival at Puri’s residence. After the inspection, Oli also visited the local office of the then Maoist party in Damak before heading toward Gauradaha.
