Gagan Thapa says NC to finalize direct election candidates today



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the party will finalize its candidates for the direct elections to the House of Representatives today.

Posting a video on Facebook Monday morning, Thapa said, “We are in the final stage of candidate selection. Despite time constraints and procedural challenges, we are making every effort to take an inclusive, balanced, and fair decision.”

He said the party is united in registering candidates and that the process focuses on consensus and accommodating all sides rather than simply selecting individuals.

Thapa also urged party members to support the party’s official candidates across constituencies, saying, “Tomorrow, everyone should go to their respective areas and work in unison for the party’s official candidates. This is not personal; it is a shared party campaign.”

Acknowledging the time pressure, Thapa said efforts are being made to maintain internal balance and urged all factions to set aside disputes and engage collectively in the election campaign.
