NC special convention moves into election phase, poll schedule announced

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has released the election schedule to choose a new leadership through its ongoing special general convention.

The timetable was made public by Election Committee coordinator and senior advocate Sitaram KC.

According to the published schedule, voting will begin at 9 pm today. The first voters’ list will be released at 12:30 pm, followed by a period for claims, objections and discussion on the voters’ list until 1:30 pm.

The final voters’ list is scheduled to be published at 4 pm, while the final list of candidates will be made public at 8:45 pm, just ahead of polling.

The decision to move ahead with the election process was taken by a five-member Election Committee, which has been tasked with conducting the central committee election.

Earlier, the Election Committee led by Khamba Bahadur Khati was dissolved, and a new committee under the leadership of Sitaram KC was formed on Tuesday morning to oversee the election process.
