Dr. Shekhar Koirala-led team meets NC President Deuba amid ongoing special convention debates

KATHMANDU: A delegation led by Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala met party President Sher Bahadur Deuba at his Maharajganj residence on Monday as internal debates continued during the ongoing special convention, according to Koirala’s secretariat.

The team, which included Deputy General Secretaries Badri Prasad Pandey and Jeevan Pariyar along with leaders Bimlendra Nidhi, reportedly discussed strategies to address the ongoing party disputes.

Meanwhile, 56 percent of convention delegates have formed nine separate groups and begun discussions over policy and leadership issues.

Earlier, Deuba had reportedly assigned the responsibility of resolving these disputes to acting party President Purna Bahadur Khadka. However, Khadka has yet to hold formal talks with the two General Secretaries.

Sources indicate that General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma are also engaging in formal dialogue with party leaders as the convention continues.
